VeggieHappy’s mission is to be everyone’s go-to reference guide for plant-based menu options in mainstream venues.

Our humble beginnings were based on a simple yet bold idea: get veggie hot dogs into Major League Baseball stadiums. At the time (circa 2000), there were few if any vegan or vegetarian options offered in general concessions.

Leveraging the power of fan feedback, Johanna McCloy, a plant-based food advocate, formed a one-woman campaign (then called Soy Happy) to change this. The campaign quickly went viral, attracting the support of sports fans, celebrities, and major media channels such as Sports Illustrated, ESPN Radio, USA Today, and the Los Angeles Times. Today, 28 of the 30 MLB stadiums offer veggie dogs, along with other plant-based options.

Well, times have changed and so have we! Welcome to the new VeggieHappy.

“I used to call VeggieHappy ‘the little engine that could.’ With my new partner Chris Ardito, VeggieHappy has become a fast-moving train, with big ambition. The directory you see today is just the beginning. Please take a moment to rate your favorite venues and share your experiences! And be sure to keep checking back, as we will continually be adding new listings and new features”.
Johanna McCloy, Co-Founder, VeggieHappy

“When I met Johanna it was clear I’d met my perfect business partner. As a branding expert and Silicon Valley marketer with a passion for all things plant-based, the forming of the new VeggieHappy is a vision come true for me. Together, Johanna and I are committed to increasing mainstream access to plant-based food options. We do this by partnering with foodservice companies and plant-based food brands, and by giving a voice to our followers and fans. We hope you enjoy using our guide and welcome your feedback and suggestions.”

What Our Fans and Partners Have To Say

VeggieHappy to the rescue! I always consult VeggieHappy when my wife and I take our two kids to the ballpark. I also use it on my business trips.

Cody Pike,

What a great honor being the Most Vegan-Friendly MLB Ballpark for 2016-17 (from PETA). VeggieHappy was a big help along with our Texas Rangers vegan fans to make this happen. Who would ever have thought a ballpark in Texas could win this award. We appreciate all our fans and their ballpark food experience is important to us.

Casey Rapp, General Manager,
Globe Life Park

VeggieHappy has encouraged and assisted me in adding menu items, which we have continued to increase every season. [VeggieHappy] makes it competitive between ballparks, which is cool. It’s like, ‘Who’s got the most vegetarian choices?’

Sandie Filipiak, Director of Concessions,
AT&T Park

VeggieHappy is a vegan food industry pioneer… I highly recommend VeggieHappy for anything to do with pioneering business, sales, and vegan foods.

VeggieHappy is where it all began for the Texas Ranger’s Ballpark Vegan cart. I love attending games with my boyfriend or a group of girlfriends.

Twalla Grant,

My husband and I love visiting MLB ballparks. VeggieHappy helps me figure out what I can eat at any stadium. Seeing what vegan/vegetarian items baseball stadiums offer tells me which are veggie friendly and which need some encouragement to become so!
